12 weeks

Cal has had an interesting week that seemed to be a growth spurt (?) At least I hope. He was eating every hour and a half during the day and he had a few late nights of going to bed around 10:30pm and 11pm and then sleeping in until 10am, all the while waking up at 2:30am and 6am. He was going to bed around 8-9pm which was manageable but we need to be kept on our toes every once in awhile right? I am pleased to say that the last two nights he was in bed around 9 and even fell asleep on his own in his crib with his pacifier. So way to go big boy!

This week he also learned that he has hands! He loves to clasp them together and puts them in his mouth any chance he can get. He is starting to reach for his toys and can grab on every once in awhile. My favorite is when he holds onto my hand when he is falling asleep during a nap. The picture below shows him hanging onto my necklace during a nap. He's such a little sweetie.

More faces for your enjoyment! He can be a real smiley guy when he's not stuck in his serious mode.

With the cold mornings lately I have resorted to using the car seat cover so everything is covered except his little face. Can you find him?

More walks in the Wissahickon this week with the moms from Mom's group. The picture below is from today when Cal boycotted all carriers and strollers so I had to carry him for about a half hour. Rachel took this picture of the little guy taking a snooze.

Such a fun group - I'm so blessed by these women.

This is Cal's reaction to Matt's barrage of kisses when he gets home from work.

Cal's Halloween costume will make an appearance next week... Made by me...he doesn't have a choice when he has a crafty Mom. :)

11 weeks - A special visit

This is my second go around at writing this post after the app randomly shut down when I went to save everything last night. Boo :(

Cal has made many new baby friends in the last 11 weeks. Thanks to The Nesting House new mom's group in Mt. Airy, we get to meet up with other people on the same journey and share our ups and downs and ways we can help each other. It's been such a great community. The picture below shows some of us moms out to breakfast celebrating Angela's birthday at the Fairlane Grill. 6 moms and 6 babies for 2 hours with no meltdowns! Go us!

(L to R: Angela & Lexie, Auxi & Cielo, Me & Cal, Rachel & Teddy, Kara & Wendy, and Eunmi & Nina)

Another weekly pastime has been walking in the Wissahickon enjoying the beautiful fall scenery.

Cal had taken a hiatus from snuggling up during naps for a couple weeks but now he's back into it. Oh how I love and cherish this time.

We go on some morning walks just the two of us around the neighborhood and this is what he looks like when it's chilly outside.

Cal sure loves his Daddy - here they are being silly together.

                     I'm still reading!!

On Saturday my dear friend Holly (who I have known since elementary school) drove all the way from Michigan to visit us!! What a treat it has been!
Cal decided to be sweet and give Holly some snuggles when she arrived.

      "What did you say?"

Cal's latest skill is learning how to sit! Go little guy, go!

Although these next two pictures have nothing to do with Cal, I still thought I'd share them. When Cal went to sleep, Holly and I decided to make some fun Halloween cookies. It was nice to have some quiet time to ourselves to chat and be creative.

10 weeks - Cal's new stats

Cal went to the doctor last Wednesday for his 2 month check-up and shots. He had a really rough time getting the shots, so he slept 3 hours once we came home and just woke up screaming and crying. My poor little baby...:( we ended up crying together and Matt came home early to help out with our miserable little fella. After a couple of hours and a dose of Tylenol he was back to his normal self again. His poor legs were so sore... The best part of the appointment was finding out how much he had grown!

Weight: 14 lbs 1.2 oz -  83.69 percentile
Length: 23.5 inches - 66.18 percentile
Head circumference: 40.6 cm - 86.3 percentile

Our Cal is growing so fast, he definitely does not look like he is only two months old. We sure love our big (little) guy.

Last weekend we had a great time picking pumpkins with Katie and Stephen from our Bradley class and their sweet baby girl Kaylee- they were born about three weeks apart.

This is what Cal looks like in his old bassinet at 10 weeks.
This is Cal in his bassinet at 3 weeks. My how you have grown Cal.

Is that comfortable?

Cal can read now.

Twins?

Are you kidding me Mom?

9 weeks - Cal's first road trip to Pittsburgh and two new tricks!

Too many cute ones to choose from!

This weekend we decided to take the plunge and bring Cal along with us on one of our infamous road trips. With Cal only traveling 1 hour prior to this trip, we were a bit nervous of what Cal would do in the car for such a long stretch. It worked out that we left at 6pm on Thursday night, so he slept for the first 45 minutes, was awake for about an hour (I told him many stories, shook a little ball up and down for at least 10 minutes straight and made sure the paci stayed in his mouth), and then we stopped at a rest stop to feed him and he fell asleep as his normal bed time - 9pm.  What a champ! Wouldn't you know it, he slept the whole way to Grandma and Grandpa Roth's house and even transferred into the Pack and Play without even waking up. He proceeded to sleep through the night, waking up at 5am to eat and then sleeping until 8.On the way home we left at 9pm and he slept the whole way home. What a relief! *Side note: Since sleeping in the crib, Cal is only waking up once at night now, around 4 or 5am and then going back to sleep until 8 or 9am. What a welcomed change!
While at Grandma and Grandpa's house he looked at some new black and white books that Grandma gave him, got lots of snuggles and kisses, talked everyone's ear off, did some new tricks (see video below) and was overall a sweet boy. Cal was extra lucky this trip because he got to meet Aunt Laura and Uncle Dan for the first time!

Anyone who knows Matt, knows that he has a major loyalty to his Italian barber in Pittsburgh, Felix Fava. Don't let this picture fool you, Cal appears to be loving Felix, but only moments before, Felix was smothering him with kisses all over his cheeks and he was crying. Cal will get used to the Italian love someday. :)
Taking a tour of Felix's barber shop - maybe a haircut here in the future?
Matt's best friend Ryan and his wife Kristin came to visit as well! Lucky Cal!
Oh my heart...I LOVE those little forehead wrinkles.

Cal also did some dancing today with his sweet girl Naomi.

Cal loves to stand these days! His legs are getting so strong and he looks like a little man. - Thanks Sheryl for the picture!

Our little guy likes to stand!

Cal can ROLL! I can't believe how strong he is!

In final news, Cal is going to his 2 month appointment tomorrow and will have to get his shots. Pray he does well and is able to recover quickly and that I won't cry with him!
