1 week old

Cal is the most beautiful and amazing little human being I have ever known. Matt and I continue to be in awe of how much we can love someone who has only been in our lives for a short while. This first week of his life has been one of newness and team work. Matt was able to be home with me for a week before he had to go back to work, which was such a good bonding time for us... but then he had to go out of town on Monday for 4 days. I knew Matt would miss Cal so much, as he was just getting used to  having him in our home and figuring out a routine. I also knew that I would miss Matt and his willingness to help me in the middle of the night when I was too sore to get out of bed. Matt was there every second that I needed him, showing me selfless love. Fortunately, Matt's mom was able to come and stay for the 4 days that Matt was out of town, so that brought me much relief and joy in the times where it felt overwhelming. Big thank you to Mom Roth. :)

Oh my goodness..

My favorites about Cal.

Perfect little lips, squishy cheeks, fuzzy ears, a strong nose like his Dad's, alert tiny eyes that take everything in, incredibly soft skin that has not yet been weathered by the elements, toes with wrinkles that look like miniature Michelin Men, strong legs that he used to kick to let me know he was alive even before he was born.
